EXPERIENCE THE RIDE

This intro course gets you familiar with a motorcycle’s primary parts and controls, and provides a taste of riding without a big investment of time or money.  It’s a great way to determine if motorcycling is for you, and if you have the skills needed for the full New Rider Course.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Our Experience The Ride (ETR) course is just 2-hours long, and the class size is small, with no more than four participants!

  •  The ETR is a first-touch experience with a motorcycle and is not designed to teach you all you need to know to ride.

  • This familiarization program points out the primary controls and parts of a motorcycle, how to mount and dismount, and how to start the engine. You’ll learn how to operate the brakes, throttle and clutch, and how to “find neutral”. You’ll start out operating the controls with your feet down on the ground as you “power-walk” on our practice range and then progress to riding with your feet up!

SMALL INVESTMENT.  BIG PAYOFF.

FAQs

What do I bring?

Our Manager Larry will meet with you to review what you need, which includes signed legal forms, riding gear, and a positive attitude.

What gear do I need?

The same gear as the New Rider Course.

  •  A DOT compliant helmet.
  • Eye protection (visor or glasses).
  • Full-finger gloves.
  • Jacket or long sleeve shirt.
  • Long pants without rips.
  • Sturdy over-the-ankle boots.
How much skill do I need?

Zero!  This option is designed for those that have never ridden a motorcycle before with close guidance from a professional coach.  If you have ridden a motorcycle before and are ready to get licensed, enroll in our New Rider Course.

What if I’m a little nervous?

This was designed for people who are a little nervous!  Your coach will be right there next to you every step of the way, teaching and encouraging you.  You decide if you’re ready for each step and can opt out at any time. After learning the main parts and controls of the motorcycle you’ll learn how to get on and off the motorcycle, start the motorcycle, walk it forward in a straight line with your feet on the ground for balance, then progress to riding with your feet up!

Doesn’t the New Rider Course include the same introduction?

Yes, but in a larger group, with a faster pace, more time , and more money.  Experience the Ride gives you a taste of motorcycling 1-on-1 with a coach or in a small group, and without the time and money required by our full New Rider Course. If you don’t enjoy the experience, it was only 2 hours of your time and 75 dollars out of pocket.  Those who like it enough to move on will get the cost of the ETR course off their New Rider Course fee.

Can I get a refund?

There are no refunds if you don’t complete the course or voluntarily opt out.  You’re paying for a professional Harley-Davidson RiderCoach to help you figure out if motorcycling is for you, and how ready you are for the full course.  We provided this experience to help save you the time and money of the full course.
