OUR HISTORY
Chesapeake Harley-Davidson started in 1996 when our dealership showroom was on Route 1.
In 2007 we moved to our current location know as The Big Red Barn, a fitting design to compliment our rural area
In 2018 Pete Eisenhauer purchased Chesapeake Harley-Davidson. A veteran Harley dealership owner from Tioga County, Pennsylvania, Pete is committed to exceptional customer service and offering the lowest prices in the area. Pete’s son Ramsey is our general manager.
In 2015 we started our riding academy serving 50 riders led by Manager and RiderCoach Buzz Williams. By 2018 we were enrolling 150 riders per year with 6 Rider Coaches. In 2019 we expanded the riding portion of our program to the larger riding area at Cedar Lane Regional Sports Park and added 3 more coaches.
During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 we were one of the few programs in Maryland to offer riding courses throughout the entire season, and we welcomed a record number of riders from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and Washington, D.C..
Beginning 2021 retired law enforcement officer Larry Fulton took over the management reigns from Buzz, who continues as management team leader and RiderCoach. Larry works within our dealership and collaborated with owners Pete and Ramsey to compete with the big city dealerships offering over 50 classes with 12 RiderCoaches.
We grew so much during 2021 we needed more range time than Cedar Lane could provide, and during the fall of 2021 we added the Thunder Court riding range next to our dealership. Thunder Court is the largest on-site riding academy range in Maryland. How cool is that? There’s no putt-putting around a mini parking lot here…and no driving from the classroom to the riding area either. Thunder Court is your one stop shop for riding instruction.
During 2022 we licensed over 500 riders from all across Maryland and surrounding states with multiple classes being offered most weeks from March through December. So many people from the big towns and cities have figured out what sets Eisenhauer’s Chesapeake HD apart from the rest–more professional coaches, the largest attached riding range in Maryland, and the lowest course fees around.
In 2023 we launched our Experience The Ride course allowing new riders to get familiar with a motorcycle’s primary parts and controls, and providing a taste of riding without a big investment of time or money. Our customers were able to determine if motorcycling is for them, and if they have the skills needed for the full New Rider Course. We also added two new Harley-Davidson X350s to our riding academy fleet.
We’re still growing and going strong in 2024! Our classes run from March through December and include the New Rider Course, Skilled Rider Course, 3-Wheel Rider Course, and Experience The Ride Course. Come find out why riders from all over Maryland love to learn at our riding academy. You’ll have some serious fun with the friendliest and most professional coaches around.
